OUR APPROACH
9th and 10th Grades
We work with you in a holistic approach beginning in the spring or summer before 9th Grade to create a strategic plan for the next 4-years. Beginning with an academic review and discussion of curricular and extracuricular interests, we help you to create and manage a strategic academic and extracuricular plan that will ideally position you for the college application process. We conduct periodic 1-on-1 sessions to make sure things are going well, answer your questions and adapt your customized plan over the course of your high school years.
11th and 12th Grades
As you proceed through your high school years, we will continue to advise you regarding class selections along with standardized test selection and timing. If you want to pursue different academic or extracurricular interests, we're here to help determine alternate paths to consider. Starting in 11th Grade, we begin providing critical timelines and prompts for your college selection and application process. Our primary goal during these critical years is to help find an optimal fit between you and the colleges on your application list.
The Application Process
At Catalano Advising, your application process begins long before fall of your senior year! We take a highly proactive approach to preparation of your applications and essays, with a focus on fine-tuning every aspect. This process ideally culminates in applications and essays that represent your accomplishments and are tailor-made for the schools to which you apply. We also work with our students on interview skills so that they are well-prepared to present themselves in the best possible manner. However, the application process doesn't end when you click on the Send button...we're with you the entire way!
Tutoring
Tutoring is a smart idea for most students, and is not limited to just those students that need help with their classwork. Students seeking admission to Ivy League and other highly competitive schools often avail themselves of expert tutoring services as another way to strengthen their academic and standardized test records. Additionally, entrance to competitive summer and academic year collegiate programs for high school students often requires an entrance exam. Whatever your goals, we have the expertise to help you achieve them.
